The North Branch High School golf teams opened their conference seasons at Victory Links in breezy Blaine Monday, April 16. The boys lost to Spring Lake Park 192 to 164 and the Panthers defeated the Viking girls 182-202.

NB Boys' Scores

Brad Peters 42

Doug Jorgenson 47

Kyle Lovin 51

Trevor Carroll 52

Jake Moosey 52

Jared Houle 53

Total 192

"Scores were higher than expected," said longtime North Branch coach Tom Moriarty. "We traditionally don't play as well on courses we haven't played a lot. We have 12 players closely bunched on averages scores. That should make for some good competition the next couple of weeks."

NB Girls' Scores

Lacee Scherer 45

Amy Aho 46

Katie Foley 51

Jeni Farr 60

Kelsey Johnson 62

Hope Chenevert 66

Total 202

Megan Scherer and Amy Aho played steady golf, as expected. Ninth grader Katie Foley continued her improvement and will be a big lift for the Vikings. Jeni Farr Kelsey Johnson and Hope Chenevert did not have very good scores. All three hit the ball well, but each had two or three big holes that inflated their totals.
