A Youth Service Bureau fundraiser event dubbed "Battle of the Bands" shook the park in North Branch. Two bands performed Aug. 2 -- first on stage was the two-member Alliance 49, followed by Consepts, with three guitars and drummer.

Forest Lake based recording artist and performer Sam Grimes warmed up the crowd. She is pictured at microphone. (Grimes most recently performed at Fringe Fest events in the Twin Cities last weekend.)

Grimes and North Branch recording studio owner Tim Andrews, Bimanic Studio, volunteered their time and skills towards putting on this show. Mistress of ceremonies was Heather Gilbertson from Personal Image Photo Studios, near Stacy.

Consepts took musical winner honors and Alliance 49 won the fundraiser portion of the contest, by collecting the most in cash donations for Youth Service Bureau. Members of Alliance 49 are Will Goodroad and Jake Goodroad, shown in photo with drummer and guitarist. Consepts musicians (larger group shot) are drummer Ben Dummer, and guitar players Reed Mauriala, Chris Asmus and Karl Asmus.
