Lyle was born in Chisago City, March 1, 1933, in the farmhouse on his property, to parents Rodney and Ellen Lifgren.
He graduated from Chisago High School and loved sports, playing baseball, basketball and football.
He was in the Navy Reserves from 1951-1953 and in active duty in Korea in the Army from 1953-1955 as a Corporal.
Lyle enjoyed farming and fishing and was employed by the local phone company for 35 years before retiring.
He married Judy Linehan in 1959 and had 47 years of marriage.
Lyle is a member of Zion Lutheran Church, was a volunteer fireman for Chisago City and a member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorraine Lifgren and son-in-law Dan Dreckman.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters: Barbara (Dennis Boelter) Dreckman and her ex-husband Jerome Dreckman; Kristine Dreckman, and Kari (Jonathan) Lifgren-Dodge; grandchildren: Matthew, Steven, Michelle, Joseph, Brooke, Jonathan, Lindsay, Eli and Sofia; and sister, Lois Hawkinson. He was also grandpa to Missy, Brittney and Cassie.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. Visitation Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Interment at Chisago Memorial Park in Chisago City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City, Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, Florida, Salvation Army, or MN Without Poverty.
