He graduated from Chi-Hi in Center City, in 1953. He married the love of his life, Darlene Marie "Cook" Baudler May 19, 1956, at Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake. They moved to a farm north of Lindstrom to begin raising their family. Country living was a pleasure for him as he enjoyed the fresh fruits of Cook's labors (ie, raspberries and garden-to-table meals). He also enjoyed raising cattle, camping, family activities, and "fishing" with his son. Harvey was active in the community with the Sportmen's Club, 4-H, Masonic Lodge, church activities and brought joy and humor to those around him.
After retiring from many years in the plumbing industry, he enjoyed spending time traveling with his wife, Cook.
Harvey's life ended after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
He is preceded in death by wife Darlene "Cook" Swenson; father Arnold; sister Janet Tonsager; father-in-law John Baudler Sr.; sister-in-law Donna Baudler and other close friends.
He is survived by mother Hazel; brother Tom (Linda) Swenson; sister Elvice (Bob) Sawyer; mother-in-law Scharlotte Baudler; brothers-in-law Jim Baudler and John (Mary) Baudler Jr.; children: Kevin (Lorraine) Swenson, Debbie (Randie) Gustafson, and Becky Swenson; grandchildren Chris, Phillip, Rachael (Nick), Jennifer, Greg, Kimberly, and Trish; great granddaughter Nevaeh; and special friends John and Ardy Akerson and numerous other friends and relatives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and appreciated him.
Funeral Service 11 a.m., Friday Dec. 21, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City. Visitation 5-8 p.m., Thursday, at Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom (651-257-4000) with Masonic Service at 7 p.m., and also visitation one hour prior to service at church. Burial Hillside Cemetery.
