Celebration of the Lakes, male super models and VCR tapes?
The Chisago County Press is proud to announce the first-ever Celebration of the Lakes circular. The great people that head up the celebration have worked hundreds of tireless hours to make this year's celebration better than ever. Those people, along with the Chisago County Press, have put together a Celebration of the Lakes brochure that you will be receiving in this weekend's Search Shopper. In it you will find a schedule of events, a history of ballooning, maps of both locations (if weather doesn't hold up, the celebration will be held at Ki Chi Saga Park), a nice story about last year's ambassador, and of course an article thanking all of the terrific people who have donated their time, money and services to make the celebration a success. The weather has been cooperating and hopefully we will be able to watch the balloons on the lake.
If you have watched the news lately, you probably have heard of international soccer ultra-legend/male super model David Beckham signing with the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS. Beckham inked a reported five year $50 million contract to kick around a little white and black ball.
If you have read my articles in the past, you have heard me preaching about shopping locally. It doesn't get said enough, but people who operate any business, especially small businesses, deserve a big thank you for what they contribute to our lifestyles. All they ask in return is a chance to be of service to the community. If you give them a chance to serve your needs, that's all they ask for. Even if you don't make a purchase when you visit their business, offer them thanks for making our community better and different than the "big box" communities.
The Chisago County Press is now looking for someone to report on Chisago City Council meetings. This is a great opportunity to earn some money and learn about your local government. Chisago City is a growing city that has a great government intact. You will be expected to attend the meetings and write an article in a timely manner. You can call Denise or Matt at 651-257-5115 for more details.

Celebration of the Lakes, male super models and VCR tapes?
Every now and then I bump into a person that is totally enthralled with local government, whether it is the city that they live in or at the county level. Well, I am hoping there is someone out there that could help me. I am looking for someone who possibly might have taped the January 2 County Board meeting. The Press has a collection of various local government meetings, but we (I) failed to tape this particular meeting. If you can help me, I would most appreciate it. I can be reached at 651-257-5115.
