Citizens approach LID about stormwater concerns
Municipal water improvements on-the-way
Since fewer than five board members were present, there was no quorum, and business requiring motions was not conducted.
Citizens Rob Mohr, Don Schug and Kim Holquist, gave a presentation concerning run-off along Green Lake Trail. The run-off originates from a new road project, and is directed to an easement which drains directly into Green Lake. Schug, of Justin Avenue, stated that there is flooding out of the easement boundaries on his property during heavy rain events. Several photos were shown to the LID board members to justify the complaint and concern for the lake quality.
Joe Triplett, Chisago County Engineer, will discuss this concern with Craig Mell of the Chisago County Soil and Water Conservation District. Triplett will also re-stake the easement, to see where the water floods to during a rain event.
Matt Redington, HDR Inc., and Bud Kapell attended a meeting with a workgroup from the Lindstrom Planning Commission. They emphasized the objectives of the model erosion ordinance; hoping that it will serve as common ground for the county and individual communities.
Lake Management has completed the ditch spraying, but not the spraying at the outlet of Walmark Lake. The DNR has not approved spraying in this location. Lake Management will notify the LID if the DNR does okay this location.
The August LID meeting is the annual LID meeting. The public is welcome to attend the annual meeting for election of officers and other business.
The monthly LID meetings are held at 7 p.m., in Room 142, at the Chisago County Courthouse, in Center City. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month. All are welcome and encouraged to attend! For additional information you may contact Mary Christopherson at 651-237-0470 or at [email protected].
