Roy was born June 17, 1918, in Nerstrand, Minn., to Lillian and Harry Knopf. He attended Cambridge High School and moved to Lindstrom in 1937 where he ran a small chicken and egg business.
He married Lorraine Peterson in May 1939 and six children were born to them. He managed a Co-op store, owned a grocery store, was a butcher, real estate agent, and worked at Brinks Market for many years.
Roy was a WW II veteran and active in the American Legion. He was a man who loved people and they loved him.
Roy is survived by his children Larry (Shirley) Knopf, Dorothy (Curtis) Peterson, Linda Strain, Virginia (Bruce) Biedler, Suzanne Knopf, Dan (Patty) Knopf, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 4, at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment in Chisago Memorial Park. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home.
