The North Branch tennis season ended in the first round of the section 7AA Tournament at Andover. The Huskies beat the Vikings 7-0 Monday, May 21.
"We played well, top to bottom, but they were just better at all the spots," said North Branch head coach Tom McLaughlin. "Second and third doubles (Joel Cramblit and Sam Stahley and Brandon Sonnenfeld and Matt Jarvis) were especially close in their matches."
Section 7AA - Individual
Each school is allowed to enter two singles players and two doubles teams in the individual portion of the section tournamnent.
"At the individual subsection playoffs on Wednesday our singles entrants Dan Mork and Nick Lambrecht both played great but lost to highly seeded opponents," McLaughlin said. "The doubles team of Tony Rollins and Joel Cramblit played well also but lost to a higher seed. Aaron Good and Travis Heilig made up our other doubles entry and played the fourth seeded team from Anoka very closely before falling.
"We will lose all three seniors from this years squad, captain Dan Mork, captain Tony Rollins, and Sam Stahley as well as sophomore Avery Swanson. But, our entire singles lineup will return as well as four of this year's doubles players. We should continue to improve depending on how hard the players work through the summer months to improve their games," the coach said.
