"Overall, the girls did a fantastic job," said Wildcat head coach Brett Kjos
In the 11 a.m. session, the gymnasts competed in the individual events. The entrants competed in one to four events, depending on their performance at the section meets.
Harris, competing in the vault, bars and beam, earned her highest score on the vault, where she scored an 8.925. On the uneven bars, she earned 8.650 and had an 8.475 on the balance beam. In the afternoon session, Harris competed against the top all-around gymnasts in Minnesota, scoring 33.650.
"Britni placed 30th in the all-around, 28th on the vault, 26th on the bars and 25th on the beam. Britni had really nice bar and beam routines. She struggled a little bit on the floor but did a new vault at the meet and will probably be doing that new vault next season," Kjos said.
Olson scored 8.225 on the beam, the event that she won at the Section 7A Meet by earning a 9.200. "This was Andrea's first time at the state meet and she did great. She had a fall on the beam which could have been devastating. But, she remained calm and really finished strong on the rest of her routine.... An awesome performance. Andrea placed 30th on the beam.
"To have two girls qualify and participate at the state meet shows how hard they worked all season. To be considered among the best gymnasts in the state is a nice accomplishment for two really outstanding girls," Kjos added.
