I hope you and your family had a chance top take in the annual Home Show over the weekend. Once again, Chisago Lakes Community Ed and the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber did a fabulous job. From all accounts, most everyone involved with the show said the show was a success. If you have any ideas on how to improve the show or know of some entertainment that you feel would be great for next year's show, feel free to call the Press at 651-257-5115.

Thanks again to Bob Meyer, Denise Atkinson, Bob Jennissen, Coreen Agre, Becky Carlson, Amber Lindo and Brenda Palmquist for their tireless work in making this year's show one of the best. Thank you to all of the people who volunteered their time to make the show run so smoothly. Most importantly, thank you to all of the exhibitors for doing such a wonderful job presenting their businesses to the public.

As winter ends and spring is just around the corner, I would like to congratulate all of the youth who took part in school activities. Whether it was music, drama, speech, math league, athletics or any school activity, it is great seeing so many kids excited about participating in a school activity. In today's world of negative news, it is refreshing to see these young people with a zest for the positives. It makes us old fogies proud to know that these kids will soon be the ones making important decisions that will affect us all.

Somebody asked me last week why am I always writing about the food shelf when most everyone in our area is doing alright financially. That is the kind of thinking that causes food shelves to get in situations where the demand is greater than the supply. March is designated as Food Share Month in the state of Minnesota. This is a good time to learn a little bit about the shelves. Many if not most of the people who use the food shelves are people who are employed but for some reason have fallen on hard times. Sometimes it is plainly not having enough income to make it through the month. So, it might appear that everyone in our area can support themselves and their families, there are many who need a boost every once in a while. After all, if you think back, who couldn't have used an extra bag of groceries at one time or another in our lives? Please give whatever you can to help our food shelves. They welcome your donations of non-perishable food, cash and sometimes even your talents as well.

Now that we are in March, as we do every year, we will be starting our annual subscription renewal campaign. On page 2 of each edition of the Press during March there will be a special offer and a clip-out coupon that will allow you to renew your subscription and save $1.50. All of our subscriptions are due on May 1 of each year and the March promotion is our effort to get some of those done early and to help smooth out the volume we receive, and for helping us out you get the savings. We truly appreciate the support of our loyal subscribers and hope you will take advantage of the March offer.
