Bemidji State University shot putter Sheena Devine heaved her sixth and final attempt 51-00.25 to earn an NCAA-Division II national championship. Her throw, at the National Indoor Championships March 9-10, 2007 in Boston, Massachusetts earned 10 points for BSU in the Reggie Lewis Center.

The junior's throw out distanced the best throw by runner-up Jessica Selby of Missouri Southern by almost six inches.

At the same meet, BSU junior Joe Remitz claimed fourth place in the men's division with a throw of 57-04.75.

Devine and Remitz are both All-Americans for the second consecutive year. They both qualified in May, 2006 at the National Outdoor Championships in Emporia, Kansas. Devine finished sixth and Remitz third in the Kansas meet.

Devine, a 2003 graduate of North Branch High School, is the daughter of Pat and Pat Devine of Harris. Remitz, a 2002 NBHS graduate, is the son of Joseph and Colleen Remitz of Cass Lake.
