The 2006-07 North Branch girls' basketball season came to and end Monday, March 26, when the team held its banquet and awards program at Trinity Lutheran Church.

"I think we had a good year," said Viking head coach Dan Schindler. "After our slow start, we played very good basketball in January and February.  We stopped Benilde's 64-game winning conference streak." The coach was referring to a February 6, 43-39 home win over Benilde.  "We were 10-4 down the stretch and individually both Gabrielle (Olson) and Tiffany (Good) hit the 1000 point mark. 

 "We lose seven great seniors.  They are a special group and will really be missed.  Gab (Olson), Tiffany (Good), Kacie (Ramberg), Ellie (Fairbanks), Lacee (Scherer), Amy (Aho), and Randi (Zentner) have had great careers.  In the last three years their record is 58-29 which included a state tournament trip.  And, they are just class acts off the court.  I consider them part of my extended family and it certainly will be different next year," Schindler continued.

"I am already looking forward to next year.  Even though we lose seven seniors, we have some good players returning.  Kristen Robatcek led our team in scoring this year and returns.  Ashley Johnson and Megan Scherer saw a lot of action this year and we have some good players in our JV and ninth grade teams that will have to step it up next year.  With some off season work, we will be ready for the start of the season," the coach added.  

"I would like to thank all my coaches, players and the fans for the all the support they have given me.  I feel very fortunate to have been able to be around all these great people," Schindler concluded.
