Donald L. White died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at his home embraced in love by his family. He had been diagnosed with kidney cancer in January 2007. Don was a longtime employee of Grandstrand Funeral Home and recently became a partner with the other directors in January 2005.

Don was born September 20, 1956, to Melvin and Carolyn White of Stacy where he spent his entire childhood. He has resided in North Branch for the past 26 years. On October 6, 1979 Don married Donna Meyer at St. Bridget's of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Don graduated from Chisago Lakes High School in 1975. He graduated in 1979 from the Department of Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota with High Distinction.

He was active in the North Branch community serving on the old North Branch City Council from 1988-1994 and the new council from 1997-2000, currently serving on the Parks, Trails and Open Spaces Commission, volunteered on the North Branch Fire Department for many years, was a member of the local Masonic Lodge, sexton for St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery for nearly 15 years, and various other committees and commissions.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, camping and most of all his family.

Don is survived by his wife, Donna and two daughters: Rachel and Emily; five brothers: Robert (Deloris) of Lindstrom, Ronald (Beverly) of North Branch, Randy (Roxanne) of Mora, John (Dawn) of North Branch and Edward (Anne) of Amery, Wis.; parents, Melvin and Carolyn White of Stacy; brother-in-law Richard Meyer (Wendy) of Lindstrom; sister-in-laws: Laurel Meyer of St. Paul, Linda Bauman (Brad) of North Branch, Diane Whaley (Kevin) of Circle Pines, and special Family Friend Clark Kubat, of Stacy, many nieces and nephews along with countless friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 25, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory's Catholic Church with Deacon Tom Langlois officiating. Music by Kathy Hendren, Jon Ekstrom and Darin Marcussen. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery in North Branch. Arrangements were handled by Grandstrand Funeral Home of North Branch.
