There are a couple of neat things happening with a few Chisago Lakes businesses. First, the good folks at Brink's Market are partnering again with Family Pathways in their annual turkey drive. For a small sum of $9.90, you will be partnering with Brink's to purchase a 10 pound turkey to be donated to the food shelf in your name. Brink's will be picking up the remainder of the cost of the turkey. A pretty great deal that is all made possible by you and Brink's Market. To make the deal even sweeter, an anonymous donor will match the first 500 pounds of turkey that is donated. Together we can help everyone have a nice turkey over the holidays. Just grab a card, fill out your name, and turn it in to a cashier while you are paying for your groceries, it is as simple as that.

I was speaking to Joe, of Joe's Pizza, the other day, and when I asked him what was new, he replied that he was going to give away 200 free pizzas. I immediately started to scan his head for bumps from maybe a fall or some head trauma. Joe explained that he is giving all these pizzas away as a goodwill gesture for his loyal customers. Each one of Joe's locations will be giving out pizzas to the first 100 customers. The pizzas are large take-n-bake pepperoni pizzas, that trust me, are very tasty. The promotion runs this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to noon, in Chisago, and noon-1 p.m. in Wyoming. You do have to go to the locations. This sort of thing doesn't happen very often so don't miss your chance at a free pizza.

Next week is Thanksgiving and most of us have a trip to take to a relative's or friend's house for a day of eating and good times. Unfortunately, there are many people who have nowhere to spend Thanksgiving. The Chisago Lakes Lions would like to change that. The Lions are once again putting together a Thanksgiving meal that is for anyone who wishes a little company this Thanksgiving. The dinner is November 22 (Thanksgiving Day) and begins at noon. The meal is absolutely free, but they do need a reservation in order to make the correct amount of food. The event takes place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom. Please call 257-2654 or 257-5679 for reservations. There is no reason to be alone on Thanksgiving, so please give them a call.

The Chisago County Press is excited to present our annual Gift Guide. In the guide, you will find many, many local businesses who have placed ads to showcase their goods and services. I have said it a million times, one of the great things about our local businesses is that they are different than those big-box stores that you find in the Twin Cities. Our stores are unique, many times they offer one-of-a-kind merchandise, and most importantly they care about you the consumer. Many times when you have purchased something from the area, you will walk in and they will remember you and what you purchased last time. Try finding a big-box employee who remembers you let alone what you bought last time.

The Chisago County Press is looking to add to its successful sales team. The Chisago County Press is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, honest team player to join our staff as a sales rep. Sales experience and knowledge of the newspaper industry would be preferred, but we will train the right person. Time management and personal skills are a must. We offer a flexible, fun work environment with a good salary based on commission with benefits available.

If you would like to join our great sales team, please send your resume to: Matt Silver, Publisher, Chisago County Press, P.O. Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045 or e-mail to [email protected].
