Last Friday, my family took in opening night of the Chisago Lakes Senior High's Wizard of Oz. Being a person that would rather roll around in insulation than watch a musical, you can understand how badly I did not want to attend. I appreciate when people admit they are wrong, so here goes my version. I was wrong -- completely and utterly wrong. Not only was the musical good it was borderline great. All of the actors did a wonderful job, from the most trivial parts to the main characters. I really hope you had a chance to catch this one because it was one for the ages. Congratulations to David Seaburg for directing a wonderful adaptation of a classic.

We have already had a good turnout for our coloring contest. If you missed it, it was in this weekend's edition of the Search Shopper. We will be awarding a $50 savings bond to a child in each age category. Make sure to have them into us by December 12, we will have the winner posted in the December 20 edition of the County Press.

This week my grandmother will hit a milestone. She will turn 90 years old. If you have read my column in the past, you know that my grandmother holds a very special place in my heart. She has always been a special person to me, but since my dad passed away over four years now, she has been my rock. She is the one who I pick up the phone and call when there is good news or bad news. She is unbelievable with my children. They completely worship the ground she walks on. I know she hates being in any limelight, but tough -- Happy birthday Gram. You are the greatest, and I am so lucky to have you in my life.

Remember, the good folks at Brink's Market are partnering again with Family Pathways in their annual turkey drive. For a small sum of $9.90, you will be partnering with Brink's to purchase a 10 pound turkey to be donated to the food shelf in your name.
