Britt Baumann, a 2004 North Branch High School Graduate, recently completed his career as the University of Minnesota Duluth place kicker. In his senior season, the sociology major was chosen as the Most Valuable Special Teams Player by his Bulldog teammates.

By kicking three field goals in the Bulldog's season ending win over St. Cloud State University, Baumann tied the all-time UMD record for field goals (28) and field goal attempts (48). He also ended his career holding the consecutive extra point record (60).

At the team's awards program, Bulldog head coach Bubba Schweigert said, "Britt Baumann walked-on to our program and earned our starting position as kicker as a true freshman. He worked hard to keep his position and was a four-year starter. He was a perfectionist throughout his time at UMD. Never satisfied, he spent many of his own resources to receive instruction from one of the finest kicking instructors in all of football. I can truly say that Britt improved each and every season as our kicker. His improved leg strength was the result of hard work and his attention to detail helped him to improve his technique. This made him a reliable kicker and a person we could count on to put points on the board."

Baumann was also one of 14 UMD players named to the 2007 North Central Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. To qualify, an individual must have at least a 3.20 grade point average, have completed at least two semesters at his current school, and have competed against outside competition.

Carol and Bill Baumann of North Branch are Baumann's parents.
