The North Branch tennis season ended when the six Vikings competing in the individual portion of the Section 7AA Tournament failed to advance to the finals. The individual matches were played Wednesday, October 10 at Gold's Gym in St. Cloud.

"Katie Wicklund and Sara Fletcher were our singles entries and both played well, but lost in matches against higher seeded players," said Viking head coach Tom McLaughlin. "Both lost 2-6, 0-6 to players from Forest Lake and Andover respectively."

Sarah Byrne and Bailey Milligan played in the doubles bracket and played against the second-seeded team in the bracket. McLaughlin said, they "were able to keep it close in the first set before losing 3-6 and 0-6 in the second set."

Crystal Miller and Amanda Johnson were seeded fifth in the doubles bracket and won their first match in a three-set thriller against a team from Andover. They lost the first set 3-6, after starting slowly, but then battled to get the second set to a tiebreaker at 6-6, which they won 9-7. They won the third set 6-3 to move to the second round, where they lost to the fourth-seeded team from Forest Lake 3-6, 0-6.

The four Viking seniors earned conference honors from the NSC. Amanda Johnson was selected All-Conference and Crystal Miller, Sara Fletcher, and Katie Wicklund were Honorable Mention. "All four senior girls also qualified for Academic All-State," McLaughlin reported.
