Wildcats defeat Cooper in volleyball
Everyone plays in 3-0 conference sweep
The CL volleyball program dedicated the evening to the players' parents. Before the match, the girls gave T-shirts, signs and hugs to parents and grandparents in attendance to show their appreciation for all of their support and efforts. Then as new Wildcat head coach Katie Larson put it, "We got down to business."
Chisago Lakes played very well in the first game and won easily, by a score of 25-7. "The second and third games were a little more competitive than the first, ending 25-17 and 25-16," Larson commented. "All of the varsity girls played last night, making it a whole team effort."
Senior Courtney Christy had an outstanding night with eight kills for the match and sophomore Courtney Fautsch had 10 kills. "Not too far behind them, for kills, were Rachel Nelson and senior Krista Swanson. Mackenzie Maher was also a key player, as always... She hustled to every second ball, accumulating over 50 setting assists. The girls played well enough to win in three and had opportunities to run a quicker offense," Larson concluded.
The Wildcats take to the road in the week ahead. They play at the Big Lake Invitational Saturday, September 15, at Mahtomedi September 17 and at St. Louis Park Tuesday, September 18.
