Apple Festival had perfect weather and even better food
The good people of Amador have really put together a special celebration, and evidence of that is the number of people attending that keeps growing from year to year. If you are reading this and you did not make it this year, mark it on your calendar for next year. Amador Apple Festival is an apple laden, relaxed, history rich, down-to-earth, great atmosphere with something for everyone. By the way, whoever baked the apple turnovers in the dessert tent, my family would like you to know that it was the best we have ever tasted.
The rich get richer. As I was trying to find something to sooth my upset stomach after watching the Vikings literally hand the game away, I stopped on NBC which was airing a golf event. I am not a huge golf fan, I prefer to golf rather than watch, but hey, it was not the Vikings. I tuned in long enough to watch the champion-to-be Tiger Woods hit a shot from the rough about 200 yards and land it seven inches from the hole. Typical Tiger, running away from the competition. A short time later the match was over and Tiger Woods had just won another golf event with another amazing score. Here is the kicker. I guess that this was the final golf event of the season, because Tiger Woods received a check for $1.2 million. $1.2 million -- not bad for four days of work. But then the announcer said that Tiger had also just won $10 million to be put into a retirement fund for winning the overall race at the end of the season. $10 million? Poor Tiger, I just hope he is wise enough to put it away and not blow it on frivolous stuff. I wonder if the bank has any room left next to his other $360 million he has already made.
Thanks to the good people that ventured down to Rushford to help with flood clean up. A group of local individuals gathered at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom early on September 11. The crew then drove to Rushford to help with whatever they could. Their actions were more than appreciated and should serve as inspiration to all of us.
I know I have said it here before, but if you are looking for great digital prints and do not feel like driving all the way to Forest Lake, please try Snyder Drug in Lindstrom. I have now made four sets of digital photos from Snyders, and could not be more happy with the quality.
