"Our girls were very impressive, finishing with a perfect score of 15 points. Not only that, but we had the top six finishers, seven of the top eight, and, if we could have run eight girls, we could have had eight of the top nine, with Kendra Norman's time in the JV race," said Viking head coach Brian Hasleiet. "We did a very nice job running in a pack and working together. It's just like practice for these girls. They push each other in practice and in the meets.
"Our top two boys ran very smart races and finished very well. Mike Heidelberger took the lead with about 800 meters to go and held it the rest of the way. If Ryan Norman would have had a little more time, I think he would have taken second place," the coach continued. "We now need our third through seventh guys just to close that gap just a little bit. Then we'll be right where we want to be. All of our kids, middle school through varsity, have been improving every week."
The Vikings run at the Foley Invitational Saturday, September 22. The first race begins at 10 a.m.
