Did I just see George Clooney? Nope, just our own Dan Brown

Watching the news the other day, I noticed that every newscast featured a big e-cycling event this weekend. I must admit I got excited, being a business that goes through computers as fast as as the Twins go through starting pitchers, we always have computers to recycle. I promptly asked all employees to bring in their electronics to be recycled. Typical Matt, I noticed that afternoon that the big recycling event wasn't for another week. Desperate to unload a trailer full of used computers, I decided to haul them up to Harris. Recycling for Wildlife is about 1/4 mile south of Harris on Hwy. 61. They couldn't have been friendlier. The reason for this story is that a lot of people do not realize that we have these great recycling companies in our area. There are multiple recyclers that are close to you.

In fact, on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Chisago Lake Lutheran Church will host an appliance and recycling day for all Chisago County residents. Sponsored by Nelson Recycling, for a small fee you can turn in your computers, monitors, refrigerators, fluorescent light bulbs and many other recyclables. Look for the announcement in our upcomings section.

Please recycle your electronics. Plain and simple, it's the right thing to do and most times it will cost you next to nothing.

Every once in a while we here in the country get brushed by fame. Little did I know that this time the famous person is one of our own. Dan Brown, the much read, ever controversial outdoor writer, will be featured on television May 4. Although it's not 60 minutes or Dateline, Minnesota Bound is a solid show that is watched by many Minnesotans. I am told the piece on Dan will be the first segment of the show, so be sure to tune in early.

Dan will make a stop here in Chisago Lakes prior to flying to Hollywood to pursue his career as the new hunk in show business. Just remember the little people Dan.

The Chisago Lakes Lions Club would like to invite you to the annual Cadillac Dinner April 26. The dinner will be held at the Chisago City Community Center and will feature a prime rib or chicken breast dinner. The cost may seem a little high to some of you ($135 per couple), but there will be $3,000 in raffle prizes and $4,450 in cash prizes given away. There also will be a $250 raffle just for those attending the dinner. Those are pretty good odds for an attending couple. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m.
