It's renewal card time again, plan to attend Join Hands Day
We are proud to say that the price for the County Press will remain the same. I get the occasional ribbing from folks about the $1 price, but in all honesty, I think that the amount of local news and the quality is second to none. We take pride in each newspaper and we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy producing it. Because without you the reader, we would not exist. Thank you for your support. We will continue to make the best local newspaper we can.
I almost forgot. If you have sent in your early renewal before April 16, and you receive a blue card in the mail, please disregard it. Each year there is always a small window when the early renewals and the blue cards cross paths.
The Chisago Lakes Lions Club would like to invite you to the annual Cadillac Dinner April 26. The dinner will be at the Chisago City Community Center and will feature a prime rib or chicken breast dinner. The cost may seem a little high to some of you ($135 per couple), but there will be $3,000 in raffle prizes and $4,450 in cash prizes given away. There also will be a $250 raffle just for those attending the dinner. Those are pretty good odds for an attending couple. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m.
Last week in my article, I made a small mistake. One of the recycling places I was referring to, I told you the wrong name. I should have said Chisago Appliance Electronics & Metal Recycling was the new company owned by Mark Nelson. They would like everyone to know that not only are they here for Chisago County residents, but they will accept recyclables from anyone.
Family Pathways is proud to announce this year's Join Hands Day, May 3. The subtitle of the event is called Family and Youth Fun Day.
For those of you who have never heard of Join Hands Day, it is a national day of volunteering that brings youth and adults together to improve their own communities. A benefit of the day comes through the friendships that will be made across generations. The new partnerships will be an important first step in bringing more young people into leadership roles in many organizations.
Along with a donation from Thrivent, the group has been able to purchase items for first aid kits. The first 300 families attending the Family and Youth Fun Day will receive a free first aid kit.
The event will take place in Lindstrom, at St. Bridget's of Sweden. They are currently looking for people or businesses to run booths at the event. You can call Bonita at 651-462-4398 for more information. Be sure to check the County Press for more updates regarding the event.
