For most adults, exercise is a low priority, ranking last on a long list of pressing items like family, work, commuting, and fixing things around the house. But I think all of us are inspired by these idols of sport to the point that we want to do something to resurrect our bodies to youthful vigor.
As adult recreation coordinator for the Community Education, it is my mission to provide opportunities for adults to exercise and participate in sport. The fitness center at the Chisago Lakes High School might be a good starting point- 20 machines lined up to work out the entire body.
This fall, on Sunday evenings, you could join a men's or women's soccer league. There is a volleyball league for women on Monday nights and a co-ed league that plays on Thursdays nights.
Later in the fall, there will be a men's basketball league that plays games on Wednesday nights. On Saturday mornings, adults can take lessons and play tennis matches from 8:00-10:30 a.m. There are plenty of drop-in situations for those that can't make commitments to teams-Sunday nights starting in October there is adult basketball at the high school starting at 7:00 p.m. and open volleyball at Taylors Falls Elementary on Wednesday nights. All of this information can be found in the Community Education fall catalogue. So, get off the couch and move that body and enjoy a sport. See you on the courts.
