Set your alarms, Lindstrom is the place to be this Saturday morning
Lindstrom's Rooster Sale will be taking place from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Their are deals to be found all over town, and they would like to remind you that the earlier you get there the better the discount you will receive. Come on out and support our local businesses this Christmas season.
This Saturday, when you are out and about shopping in Lindstrom, be sure to check out the Sweet Swede Candy Shoppe. They will be displaying their goodies at the Chamber building during the Rooster Sale. For those of you who don't know what the Sweet Swede is, it is quite possibly the best assortment of Chocolates and Scandinavian treats you will ever taste. They make a wonderful gift during the Holidays or if you just want to keep a decadent treat around your house.
This Saturday will also play host to the ever popular Sankta Lucia program. Held at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, Sankta Lucia will feature area youth singing Swedish songs while in Swedish dress. It is literally a step back in time as you watch this wonderful Christmas celebration just like our forefathers celebrated. The program begins at 9 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall with coffee and treats served at 8:30 a.m.
Last week the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual Gala at Point Pleasant Heights in Chisago City. Being a chamber member and having never attended a gala, I thought I would give it a try. What a wonderful time it was. There were probably close to 100 chamber members that made for some great conversation and a terrific dinner.
The night was capped off with a silent auction that was ran by Bob and LeAnn VandeKamp. I have heard stories about the VandeKamps and how entertaining they can be. They had the room in stitches as well as bringing out some really high bids.
The night was a huge hit, thanks in part to Brenda Palmquist, Tangi Schaapveld, Mike Savold and some really great volunteers. If you are a chamber member and have been thinking about attending the annual gala, I would highly recommend it.
There is still time to get your child's entry in this year's coloring contest. We have received quite a few entries already, so make sure to send yours in soon. You can either bring them into the Press or mail them to: Chisago County Press Coloring Contest, PO Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045.
We have received some really great photos in our Community Guide photo contest so far. If you have a photo of our area that you really feel is special, I urge you to send a copy in to the Press. You have a chance to win some money and more importantly, be published on the cover of the upcoming Community Guide.
In this edition of the Press, you will find our annual Winter Sports Preview. Our Sports Editor Jeff Norton and our Assistant Sports Editor Chuck Fitzer have been compiling stats and statements from coaches about the highschool winter sports season. They have put togethter a really great preview for your enjoyment. Our area has some extremely gifted athletes and we hope you will come out and cheer them on. If you need an extra copy of the preview, we will have some here at the Press.
