North Branch Double-Dual

The Vikings ended the regular season with a flourish, first thrashing Spring Lake Park 60-18 to win the North Suburban Conference title in front of their home fans last Thursday, February 7. After finishing off Spring Lake Park, they wrestled to a deceptively easy 63-11 win over Mora.

"What a fun night!" said Viking head coach Tony Aho. "We needed this win to secure the North Suburban Conference title. Spring Lake Park had a few key kids out of the line-up and we were very aggressive. That combination made for a great night. Luke Levasseuer had a beautiful come-from-behind win to get us rolling while Chad Anderson and Zach Frink earned key wins to make it official. These guys have fought hard all year and deserve to be the champions."

Though the score was lopsided, Aho felt the Vikings needed to be very cautious about becoming over-confident and underestimating Mora, a probable opponent in the Section 7AA meet.

He said, "They sat out four key wrestlers tonight to prepare for that meet, so we expected the next contest to be very close. I would like to personally thank the amazing wrestling fans here in North Branch for all of their support this season. I know that everyone thinks that their fans are the best, but the students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members that come out and support us are truly the best I have ever seen."
