"We started to take our warm-up runs at 7 a.m.," said Wildcat head coach Dan Raedeke. "It was minus 11. I moved our running order around for the state meet. We ran Katy Garbe and Amanda Angel first to give them a smoother course. Simone Raedeke ran third, then Katy Boyer, Melinda Beyer and Kate Wright."

The first run was at 8:30. "One after another, the girls went down the hill skiing well, with no problems navigating the course," Raedeke continued. "All six of the girls put in solid runs. There was a short break to set a new course and to let the girls study it."

After the course was reset and the study time, the CL girls used the same order for the second run. "One by one, they go down with no problems," Raedeke added. "All had solid runs. As the results were read, we know we did well - but how well?

"It was a great way to end the season - only three teams better in the whole state. I was proud of this group of kids, they helped each other, worked, practiced and raced as a team. They brought out what a team is, working and helping each other the whole day," said Raedeke.

Individual Results

Skiers Garbe, Raedeke and Angel, by virtue of their performance at the Section 7AA Meet, earned spots in the individual portion of the meet, which began at 12:30 p.m.

Raedeke was 18th, Garbe 21st and Angel 26th after the first run. "All three girls improved on their second run," the coach continued. Juniors Raedeke and Garbe finished 16th and 18th and Angel, a freshman, finished 21st.

"Katy Boyer and Melinda Beyer are seniors. This was their last race," Raedeke concluded. "The team will miss them."
