Viking gymnasts overwhelm CH before falling to Wildcats
Bauer's strong performances power team
Tuesday, December 18, they defeated St. Louis Park 123.875 to 108.4 at home. Thursday, January 3, at Columbia Heights, the Vikings beat the Hylanders 120.325-92.45. Thursday, January 11, Chisago defeated NB 126.600 to 119.750 in North Branch.
After the meet with St. Louis Park, North Branch head coach Susie Toohey said, "The vault has been a great asset. All of the girls do well on vault. Bars is our nemesis. We need a lot more strength to improve our routines and increase difficulty on bars.
"With one of our varsity girls Holly Tacheny, out with a knee injury, the girls competed fairly well," Toohey said following the trip to Columbia Heights. "I still believe our varsity girls are giving up 20 points in execution, falls and missing elements."
About the meet with Chisago Lakes, coach Toohey said, "North Branch gymnasts came together with loads of spirit and had a good time in the meet. Many mistakes from previous meets were fixed and some new ones were made. The girls had a few beam bites and that cost us many more falls than we would like to have to count in our team score."
The Vikings host St. Francis tonight, Thursday, January 17 at 6:30. Thursday, January 24 they travel to Fridley for a 6:30 start.
