Local Lego Robotics Team takes first place in state
Lukas Vitalis, Nel Siemsen, Abe Holte and Adam Holte scored two perfect "400" robot runs and also took the top awards for Teamwork, Robot Performance, and "Head-to-Head." Team coaches are Nate Vitalis and Peter Holte.
Two other area teams, the "Blockbusters" and "Brick Squad" received special recognition in the statewide competition that featured over 600 teams at the start of local events in September. The state tournament had been honed down to 64 teams through regional competitions. These teams were divided into two divisions depending on age of contestants, and each division took a "Champion's Award."
"Pixelation" goes to the FIRST Lego League Power Puzzle World Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Georgia Dome, April 17-19. Approximately 84 teams from around the world are expected. Teams will participate in a two day tournament celebration of their robotic and challenge project accomplishments.
FIRST was founded in 1989 to inspire young people to become interested and participate in science and technology. By engaging youth in an exciting mentor-based experience that builds science, engineering and technology skills, inspires innovation, and fosters self-confidence, communication and leadership. The Lego League is doing just that.
