Warren Allen (Mac) McPherson, 82, of Shafer, died peacefully in his sleep Friday morning. He was home, under hospice care, after surviving a stroke three years ago, and numerous bouts of pneumonia, and heart disease. He leaves behind, wife Jane, daughters Betty Jean and Cass, and son Drew. He also had six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mac was born July 16, 1925, in Red Granite, Wisconsin, graduated high school there, and enlisted immediately. This decorated WWII Veteran faithfully served his God, county, family and community. After the war, he drove bus in Baltimore during the day, while diligently taking college courses at night to get his degree.

He brought his family to Minnesota in the 60's, where they fell in love with God's County. Mac was a supervisor for The Social Security Administration. He and Jane were residents of Shafer for almost 20 years, since retirement. They were active at church, and volunteered at Chisago Clinic before his illness. Mac was a member of the Knights and Columbus, and taught '55 Alive' driver safety for over five years.

In the 50's Mac founded the Baltimore Pipe Band, taught for years. In Shafer he taught two local men to play the bagpipes.

Mac was loved by many, and will be missed.
