North Branch Vikings assistant wrestling coach Jim Hoard took these six Viking wrestlers to participate in a dual meet wrestling tournament at Augsburg College.
The wrestlers took time out of their summer to continue their dedication and improvement for next years season.
This is the 4th year that Boyd Suparat has attended the Augsburg camp and his success last year is evidence of the hard work at the camp.
The six wrestlers combined with Monticello to form a full and solid team. They finished second out or 30 teams. They went 13-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of Wasau West, the Wisconsin state champs. Wasau brought 20 wrestlers to the camp.
The NB/Monticello team also had big wins against Coon Rapids, who placed third in the Minnesota state tournament and Canton, who was runner up in the South Dakota state tournament.
The goal for the week was to improve with every match, learn new techniques, and have fun.
"We accomplished our goals and our hard work will pay off this wrestling season. We surprised some teams and really impressed both high school and college coaches," Hoard said.
