Lars B. Augustsson, born Oct. 21, 1923, died June 2, 2008.

A local author and historian of Swedish immigration and culture, he died unexpectedly at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Augustsson immigrated to the U.S. from Vastergotland, Sweden, in 1954 and settled in the Taylors Falls area. He was a carpenter by trade and an accomplished, competitive cross-country skier and athlete.

Augustsson was a member of the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, Ki-Chi-Saga Swedish Club, the American Swedish Institute, the Vastergotland Society and the Chisago County and Taylors Falls historical societies.

A memorial service will be at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Chisago Lake Lutheran Church or to one of the above named organizations.
