The Wildcats had a season filled with adversity. On the ice, they finished with an overall record of 7-18-1, including 2-12-0 in the North Suburban conference. Off the ice, they had to deal with more serious disciplinary issues than usual. At Monday's season-ending awards banquet, Wildcat head coach Corey McKinnon said "My hope, my goal, with all the adversity and the good times, is for us to take the entire season, learn from it - good and bad - and move forward. Am I glad this season is over? No. I don't ever want it to stop. And I want to do this job for a long time."

McKinnon talked about each of the seniors who were on the team throughout the season:

Aaron Bergerson - Aaron has a lot of heart. His number one skill is his speed. And it never mattered what the score was, Aaron always gave it everything he had when he was out on the ice. He played very well for us the last two years, especially for a guy who had been out of hockey for a while.

Jeremiah Bergren - It's fun to watch Jeremiah play. He plays a lot taller than he is and refuses to lose battles in the corner. Practicing hard played a big part in Miah's development as a player.

Logan Hawley - Logan will make a great coach some day. He knows where and how to be on the ice and he knows how to communicate. Someday, we'll probably all be working for him.

D.J. Haus - D.J. has great offensive ability. He's an upbeat, well-liked player. He dealt with a lot of adversity this season and will move forward with great support from outside and from within himself.

Jon Lien - Jon, our captain, does everything right and does what you ask him to do. He makes the most of what he has. One incident this year says a lot about Jon. We were ahead by one goal with 45 seconds left in the game and our opponent was on the power play. The other team took a timeout and pulled their goalie. SO they were skating 6-on-4 with a face-off in our end. The puck slid into the left corner after the face-off, and Jon used his strength and determination to hold the puck in the corner for 35 seconds, screwing up the 6-on-4 and sealing the win.

Brandon Mueller - Brandon joined us as a junior and hadn't played hockey for a while. He was rough around the edges at first, but got his feel for the game back after a while. Brandon is a hard-working, gritty player and I'm glad he came out for hockey.

Trevor Nowack - I like the way Trevor handles himself on and off the ice. He's very respectful and coachable. It's amazing how far he's come since the season began.

Jeremy Patterson - When we needed to use Jeremy's offensive ability this season, we moved him from defense to forward. He didn't bat an aye. He just said, 'wherever you need me, coach.' Jeremy is such a great student of the game, we didn't even have to coach him into his new position - he knew what to do.

Tony Skoog - Tony was our assistant captain. He has good hands and great speed and dedicated himself, successfully, to become a better athlete.

Tyler Willis - Tyler came from Centennial. He had speed and an extra gear. He gave it all he had no matter what the score.
