Ladies, the first Ladies Nite Out begins tonight. Call all of your friends, tell your husbands they are watching the kids, and head up to Lindstrom. This year, Ladies Nite Out promises to be bigger and better than ever. It runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and features businesses in the Lindstrom area.

When you get to Lindstrom, be sure to stop by the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce building to pick up your stamp card along with a great gift bag. When you are out visiting the businesses, make sure the business stamps your card so you can be entered in the prize drawings. A reminder, restaurants are also taking part in Ladies Nite Out, so please make sure to visit the great Lindstrom restaurants.

The Ladies Nite Out group would like you to know that the event will be happening rain or shine, so if it looks bleak, you are still urged to come, just dress accordingly.

The Chisago County Press renewal campaign is quickly coming to a close. Thank you to all the subscribers who have sent in their blue cards already. We really appreciate it. To those of you who have not yet sent in your cards, I would urge you to do soon. Unlike in past years where we have let subscription renewals "slide" for a few months, this year the cost of postage is forcing us to stop sending free newspapers to those who have not paid their renewal. So please send in your blue card, along with your payment and you won't miss any of the news we report each and every week.

The local vets would like everyone to know that Poppy Day is May 16. The V.F.W. has poppy displays all over the area. The "Buddy Poppy" is assembled by veterans in Minnesota. The Veterans of Foreign Wars pay for the assembly of the poppies. The money received from selling these poppies will be used in assisting needy and disabled veterans, their families and the widows and orphans of veterans.

Speaking of local vets, they would like to remind you that the cut-off for the next round of memorial bricks to be installed at the All County Veterans' Memorial in Lindstrom is May 1. If you need a registration form, you can pick one up here at the Press or at the Chisago Lakes Chamber of Commerce building (next to the Veterans' Memorial). The bricks have been a huge success and the vets hope to keep adding on to what is already one of the most beautiful memorials I have ever seen. If you would like to pay tribute to someone who has served our great country in a way that everyone will see, please fill out a form now.
