"We struggled on Monday at Bunker," said Wildcat coach Jeanne Hawkinson. "Not only were the conditions miserable to play in, we were missing our number two girl, Krista Liebsch. Liebsch was out sick and it really affected our team score.
"We were over our team goal by more than 10 stokes per nine. That hurt. Corradi came in with 48-49. Shooting two scores in the 40's was an accomplishment that day. Sam Nelson came in with 48-54. These were great scores for our fifth player. Melissa Ubel shot 56-55, Krista Swanson 59-62 and Sadie Williamson 67-59.
"Each girl contributed to at least one nine of the day, which was great. Each one of my varsity girls has already lettered for the season. This just shows that they are all capable of shooting low and are essential to the team. The big drawback was that, without Liebsch who usually shoots in the forties or low fifties, we slipped from a solid fourth in the conference to tied for fifth. We have some work ahead of us," Hawkinson commented.
The Wildcat's are scheduled to play in nine-hole NSC events today, Thursday, May 8, at Victory Links in Blaine and at St. Francis Monday, May 12. The Wildcats' first tee time is 2:45 today and the teams begin the St. Francis meet with a shotgun start at 4 p.m.
