Wilbur was born April 16, 1940, in Durand, Wis., to Claude and Irene (Moots) Hoyt. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Warner August 27, 1960, in White Bear Lake, Minn. The couple lived near Forest Lake, where Wilbur worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 2000. Always together, Wilbur and Marjorie enjoyed traveling, antiquing, and spending the winter months in Yuma, Arizona. Fishing, trap shooting, hunting, listening to music, and being with his grandchildren and family was how Wilbur liked to spend his time.
Wilbur Hoyt is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie of Wahkon; sons: Bill (Debbie) Hoyt of Wyoming, Pat (Cara) Hoyt of Coon Rapids, daughter Shelly (Don) Droppo of Hudson, WI; brothers: Don "Pete" (Carol) Hoyt of Isle, Gary Hoyt of Mendota, sisters: Norma Rathbun of Lake Elmo, Ramona Lage of Cloquet, LuAnn Hyde of South St. Paul, grandchildren: Corey (Sarah), Cassie, Justene, Alex, Dylan, Camden, Danielle, Brandon, Kennedy, Sean, Heather and Kelly; great-grandchildren: Evan and Ethan.
Preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Irene Hoyt; brother, LeVern "Scout" Hoyt; sisters: Pat Klenk and Sandy Rosse.
Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wahkon, Minn., with Father David Gallus, O.S.C. officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Arrangements are with Shelley Funeral Chapel in Onamia.
