The youthful Wildcat girls' track team finished seventh at the North Suburban Conference track meet May 13 and May 15 at Spring Lake Park.
The following team members earned conference honors:

SR Brenna Coyle - Discus 2nd place
8th Whitney Tinjum - High jump 3rd place
All-Conference Honorable Mention
JR Sam Genung - Long jump 5th place
SO Chelsea Johnson - 800 meters 5th place

JR Lindsey Fowler-Wacholz - Triple jump 7th place
JR Jordan Burnett - Pole vault 7th place
8th Whitney Tinjum - 400 meters 8th place
FR Lauren Althaus - 200 meters 8th place
"We had a pretty good showing with the girls," said Wildcat head coach Ken Orwoll. "In addition, Chelsea Johnson had a personal best in the 800 and Whitney Tinjum had a personal best in the 400. And even though our 4 by 800 team finished in sixth place, they ran their personal best time for this year."
Boys
Senior Nathan Gieske was the only Wildcat boy to receive conference honors this season, finishing seventh in the 800 meter run at the conference meet to earn All-Conference Honorable Mention. As a team, the Wildcats came in tenth place out of eleven conference teams, finishing just one point ahead of Columbia Heights.
The 4 by 800 relay team finished fifth to earn the only team points besides Gieske's on the day. "That relay was the only other place we had a real good shot at getting points other than Nate's performance and they came through," said Orwoll. "On the upside, all four of our relay teams did set personal records for the season. We had a bunch of ninth and tenth place finishes, as well. Even though it's not reflected in the score, it does show that our young guys are getting better."
Upcoming
The Wildcats will head up County Road 14 to participate in the North Branch Invitational today, Thursday, May 22. The meet begins at 4 p.m. "This meet will be a good tune-up for next week's sections," said Orwoll. This year's Section 7AA meet takes place Wednesday, May 28 (preliminaries and some field event finals) and Saturday, May 31 (the rest of the finals) at Elk River High School. The meet starts at 11 a.m. both days.
