Wildcat boys and girls head to Hinckley with high hopes
NSC Meet at Ponds
The Wildcats pulled into the tie with a third place finish in a North Suburban Conference meet at the Ponds Golf Course on Monday, May 12.
"It is a difficult course for the girls with narrow fairways, wind and plenty of water and bunkers," said Head Coach Jeanne Hawkinson. "I was happy with our score and excited that we placed third."
The Wildcats were headed by Megan Corradi's 46 and Krista Liebsch's 51.
"Megan has really been consistent in the mid- to high-40s," Hawkinson said of her number-one golfer. "But, both she and I know she can play even better. It just all needs to come together."

The girls kept hold of fourth place on the last day of the conference schedule with a strong showing at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker on Thursday, May 15.
After only one girl shot under 50 on the front nine, the squad came firing back on the back nine, getting four girls to card a sub-50 score.
"I was very happy with the girls," Hawkinson said. "We played a better second nine by far. It was a good day for the girls, with few frustrations."
Liebsch led the Wildcats this time, carding a 93 for the 18-hold course. Corradi was right behind with a 94.
Corradi's season-long scores earned her All-North Suburban Conference honors, and Liebsch was All-NSC Honorable Mention. "These two girls have led the team all apring, and they definitely deserved these awards," Hawkinson explained.

Hawkinson was impressed by her junior varsity golfers in their season-ending meet.
Ninth-graders Alex Hawkinson and Aubrey Lawlor each carded sub-110 rounds, with Hawkinson scoring a 104 and Lawlor a 108.
"They had some of their best scores of the season, and the young girls are going to be a big help next year," Hawkinson said. "They were a fun group to coach, and they will be great golfers in the years to come."

The Chisago Lakes boys golf team wrapped up their season with a n impressive third place finish at the Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker on Thursday, May 15.
With most of the conference jockeying sorted out with Benilde-St. Margaret's perched atop the heap, and Irondale in second, the Wildcats just had to fend off the Spring Lake Park Panthers for third place.
After a front-nine 158 left the Wildcats tied for first place in the meet with BSM, the back-nine caused them all sorts of trouble. Although they still only shot a 160, four teams leaped past them to push them down to sixth place in the back nine.
The fall in the back nine standing pushed them from first overall to third overall, but still left them in front of a surging Spring Lake Park.
"I thought the boys did a fine job," said Coach Perry Aadland. "Third place isn't bad, especially with how fast some of the greens were."
Aadland was excited to see that his golfers all stayed consistent in their scores they carded.
Nick Bratrud led the Wildcats with a 39, and Aron Duren and DJ Haus were bunched together with matching 40s. Jesse Helgestad punched a 41 into his scorecard, and Mike Corradi and Nick Lange rounded out the scoring with a 43 and 44, respectively.
Chisago Lakes began section play on Wednesday, May 21 at Grand National in Hinckley. With a few warm-ups at Grand National already, the Wildcats hope their familiarity with the course can shoot them to the top of the sectional hill.
