They then moved to Circle Pines, MN. They had Michael Thomas Jr., (June 1972.) They then moved to Chisago City, MN in the fall of 1972, where they have resided the past 36 1/2 years.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, knitting and going to garage sales with her granddaughter Taylor. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, her house was so decorated it looked like a hallmark store. She enjoyed staying at home with her children until they started school.
She started at the Chisago City post office in 1978 as a postal clerk. She enjoyed her job very much, especially all of the friends she made along the way. She received hundreds of cards from customers, family and friends over the past two years. In her honor October 10, 2008 the Chisago City post office lowered the flag to half-staff and closed its doors so everyone could attend her funeral. What an honor, just goes to show how much she meant to people.
Shirley also enjoyed going to church at St. Bridget of Sweden in Lindstrom, MN. When she became ill it broke her heart when she was unable to attend masses regularly. During her battle with cancer she always had a positive outlook. She continued her battle to the end. She will be missed dearly by everyone.
