Raymond Francis Ellis passed from this life on November 12, 2008 in Chisago City. He was born September 25, 1916 in Onamia to the late Frank and Mayme (nee McDevitt) Ellis. Ray married Rose Ortman, on January 25, 1944 in Oakland, CA during his military service there, where he served as a medic in the U.S. Army. Upon the end of WWII he and Rose moved back to Onamia where they farmed until 1966. He also worked for the Mille Lacs County Highway Department. In 1966, they moved to Milwaukee, WI where he and Rose both were employed by the St. Mary's Nursing Home until retirement in 1981, where upon, they moved to Chisago City.

Ray is survived by his wife Rose and their children; Joseph (Virginia) of Medford, WI, Rosemary Nickels of Eagan, MN, Delores (Tom) Reilly of Center City, MN, Betty (Ronald) Lancrain of Newport, MN, Bernice (George) Morelli of Wyoming, MN, Larry (Vicki) of Cloquet, MN, Joyce (Earl) Daubner of Greenfield, WI; his sisters Beatrice Marschall of Shakopee, MN and Irene Devine of Minneapolis, MN; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence and Joseph, and grandchild Elizabeth.

Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday November 15, 2008 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church, Lindstrom, MN. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday at Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom 651-257-4000 and also one hour prior to mass at church. Burial Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Onamia.
