Eat pancakes and French toast with the Lions Oct. 5
Roger Lindgren and Paul Schaffhausen, co-chairman for the event this year, told the Press that last year the Lions served pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, juice, milk and coffee to over 1,200 pancake and french toast lovers. This year they hope to be able to serve 1,350 customers. This includes all the pancakes and french toast you want to eat.
Tickets for the event may be purchased in advance from Lion's Club members, at Lindgren & Associated, Edward Jones, Security State Bank of Marine in Lindstrom; Printing Express and Mainstreet Bank in Center City; and Chisago Hardware in Chisago City for $6 for adults and $3.50 for children under the age of 12, with preschoolers free. Tickets will also be available at the door, adult tickets being $7, while children's will remain the same.
From this fund raiser, one-half of the profit is donated to the local food shelf. Thrivent Financial also provides supplemental funds up to $2,400. Last year with these supplemental funds, the Lions Club donated $2,000 from the pancake breakfast to the local food shelf thanks to everyone's support.
Total donations by the Chisago Lakes Lions Club supporting local projects since 2001, have averaged over $20,000 per year. These donations are all made possible by the community's support of these fund-raisers. The Chisago Lakes Lions Club is one of few clubs not selling pull tabs for fund raising. Along with profits from other fund-raisers, these fund are used for support of projects such as scholarships, glasses for needy children, Relay for Life, Friends Make A Difference, the high school, Senior Class Party, Chisago Lakes FFA Chapter, Lakes Area Recreation Assn, Chisago Lakes Schools Wolf Ridge Scholarships, Special Olympics, Senior Dining Center, Leader Dog for the Blind, Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota, Friendship Ventures, Lions Eye Bank, Children's Eye Clinic, Lions Park projects, Community Parks, Lindstrom Community Band Shell, Swedish Immigrant Trail, plus many other donations.
The Lions also accept used eye glasses and hearing aids that are collected, tested and sent overseas to needy individuals in foreign counties. The Lions will be collecting glasses and hearing aids at the breakfast, so bring all your old used glasses and hearing aids you no longer need and donate to the cause. The Lions also collect used toner cartridges from laser and inkjet printers. They will be collected the day of the breakfast also.
