Brian Grand might as well be known as Daniel Boone at North Branch High School.

The junior is blazing trail after trail at the high school. Earlier this season, he was the first person to play both football and soccer during the fall season.

He kicked for the Vikings' football squad, making nine-of-11 extra point attempts, and making some crucial tackles on the Vikings special teams, including a huge hit on a St. Francis runner who had broken free on a kick return.

Grand really dominated in his soccer cleats, however.

He finished tied for first in the state in goals with 32, and he was fourth in the state wth 39 points. His 32 goals are all the more impressive because of the consistent double teams and the level of competition he faced.

The other goal-scoring leader in the state was Daniel Killen of St. Bernard's. Killen didn't have powerhouses like Totino Grace and St. Louis Park on his schedule.

During the season, Grand recorded two seven point games, as well as a six point outing. He led the Vikings to a 10-5-1 record one year after they finished the 2007 season with one win.
