Chisago Lakes 1, Meadow Creek Christian 0 (2OT)

After an exhausting win against Fridley the night before, a tired group of Wildcats needed a goal from Cam Bouwens in the second overtime to squeak by Meadow Creek Christian 1-0 in Andover Tuesday, September 9.

"We didn't play real well," said Wildcat head coach Mark Leigh, "but we managed to survive. Zach Lukas got hurt early in the game. By the end of the second overtime, we were nearly ready to accept the tie. But then Dominic Novak fed Cammy, and Cammy got an open break and put it home. We're really glad we got out of there with a win."

Irondale 5, Chisago Lakes 1

The Wildcats played their worst game of the year, losing 5-1 to Irondale last Thursday, September 11 at Ki Chi Saga Park.

The Knights started scoring just three minute into the game. They carried the ball down the left side and scored off of a nice crossing pass sent through the box. Later in the half, the Knights scored a nearly identical goal after carrying the ball down the right side.

Despite not playing well, the Wildcats had a chance to get back into the game early in the second half. But they missed an open breakaway that would have cut the score to 2-1. Instead, Irondale took the ball down to the other end and scored a minute late to make the score 3-0.

Cam Bouwens scored the Wildcats' only goal on a breakaway, but the Knights added two late goals to make the final score Irondale 5, Chisago Lakes 1.

"This was just not a good day'" said Leigh. "Both Travis Delzer, my assistant, and I were sick. We only had three or four bench players because we had both a JV game and a "C" team game. I wasn't patient enough with the players at halftime and we just plain didn't play well. This is one of those games where you try to figure out what didn't work, then put it out of your mind and move on."

Chisago Lakes 8, Cambridge-Isanti 1

Manny Cruceru and Cam Bouwens each had a hat trick in leading the Wildcats to an 8-1 rout of the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets Saturday, September 13 at Cambridge.

The Wildcats scored four goals in the games first 22 minutes and never looked back. Zak Vrudny and Chris Thompson scored the other goals for the Wildcats. Bouwens, Eli Trochman and Tyler Kari had two assists each, and Vrudny, Cruceru and Joey Carter each had an assist, as well.

The Wildcats, (8-3 overall, 2-2 conference) were scheduled to travel to Fridley to take on powerhouse Totino Grace Tuesday, September 16. Tonight they'll return home to Ki Chi Saga Park to take on Columbia Heights at 5 p.m. Next Tuesday, September 23 they'll head back out on the road to play Robbinsdale Cooper at 7 p.m. at Cooper in New Hope.
