Goals by Hannah Cadry and Cassie Trandahl gave the Wildcats a 2-0 halftime lead against the Fridley Tigers. But Fridley came out after halftime to score two goals to tie the game. They scored again with just 50 seconds remaining, handing the Wildcats a heartbreaking 3-2 loss Monday, September 8 at Fridley.
In the first half, Trandahl was fouled outside the penalty area and Cadry scored off of the ensuing direct free kick. Later in the half, Trandahl dribbled the ball down the left side, cut to the center of the field and scored.
Irondale 1, Chisago Lakes 0
The Wildcats lost on a late goal for the second game in a row. Irondale scored with a minute remaining to beat the Wildcats 1-0 Thursday, September 11 at Irondale.
Cambridge/Isanti 2, CL 1
Trailing 1-0 at the half, the Wildcats came out tough in the second half and Amanda Houle scored to tie it up. Just after a long injury time out, Cambridge came back on the field and scored to hand the Wildcats their third straight one-goal loss. The game was played Saturday, September 13 at Cambridge.
St. Croix Lutheran 4, CL 0
Even though they were playing a home game for the first time all season, the Wildcats couldn't get things going against St. Croix Lutheran. A combination of injuries and subpar play doomed the Wildcats to a 4-0 loss Monday, September 15 at Ki-Chi-Saga Park.
Totino Grace 1, Chisago Lakes 0
After a scoreless first 70 minutes, the Eagles scored the only goal of the game to beat the Wildcats 1-0 at Totino Grace Tuesday, September 16. "Totino Grace was the girls Class A state soccer champion last year," said Wildcat assistant coach Amy Malloy. "We are very proud that we held them to a zero-zero score at halftime.
CL 9, Columbia Heights 1
Hannah Cadry's hat trick led an explosive attack as the Wildcats clawed the Hylanders 9-1 Thursday, September 18 at Columbia Heights. Amanda Houle scored twice for the Wildcats, and Tara Wilson, Cassie Trandahl, Jaime Kahler and Sarah Jacobson c hipped in with one goal apiece.
The Wildcats travel to St. Francis to take on the Fighting Saints tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. This Saturday, they'll head to St. Louis Park to take on the Orioles at 11 a.m. And, assuming the new high school stadium field is ready, they'll host Becker at the new stadium Monday, September 29 at 4 p.m. Check www.nsconference.org for location updates.
