Like booya? Come to North Branch's Fall Harvest Festival
are in the mood for some fun times then please come to North Branch. The festival runs through Sunday with events taking place almost around the clock.
Today, you can enjoy great specials along Main Street as the businesses host the annual block party. Friday you can partake in a wine tasting party at the Villages of North Branch or get a huge plate of spaghetti at the Legion. Stick around, because there will be a dance held at the Legion at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday starts with an omelette breakfast that is also held at the Legion. When you are finished, wander over to the Art, Craft & Commercial Fair in Central Park. Saturday there is a "Change for Schools" walk, bike, run or roll along the Sunrise Prairie Trail. There is a classic car show and a vehicle fair also on Saturday.
Sunday the festival slowly winds down with a pancake breakfast at the Masonic Hall and my favorite, booya, at St. Gregory's. All of the events are detailed in this edition of the Press.
Starting this Sunday, Taylors Falls is proud to be hosting its annual Leaf Spectacular. If you have driven to Taylors Falls recently, you surely have noticed that the leaves are starting to turn. While a lot of trees are still green, the timing for fall foliage change is very quick. In a matter of one week or less, the trees can go from green to spectacular oranges, yellows and reds.
The folks in Taylors Falls would like to invite you to a wonderful town for a tour of the Folsom House located in beautiful Angel Hill District. Maybe you would like to take a boat cruise on the St. Croix River and enjoy the leaves and picturesque views. You are invited to walk the town and see what makes Taylors Falls such a destination spot for travelers.
Check the Press for events taking place in Taylors Falls and surrounding areas. And as always, bring your camera!
One last item about celebrations. I hope you had a chance to make it to Amador Township's Apple Festival last weekend. The weather could not have been better. Attendance seemed to great. Everyone looked like they were having a good time while eating some really great food. Thank you to the Apple Festival group that puts on such a great "small town" celebration.
A big thank you goes out to the Viking brain wizards. They had the foresight to finally say enough is enough and replace the "quarterback of the future." I am not totally sold on the replacement, but he did show that he can throw the ball to people wearing purple jerseys. I think that coach Childress finally realized that if he hooks his wagon to the former "quarterback of the future" that would be the demise of his own future as a head coach.
Speaking of football, I am told that it is looking very good for the first Wildcat football game in the new stadium to be next week's homecoming game. I am told that they are just putting the finishing touches on a few things and hopefully it will be good to go. We will let you know more next week.
