He was a very outgoing person and met many people on his lay-overs all across the United States. He had a great love for country music and children. His children and all his nieces and nephew's grew up listening to Jerry play his guitar and sing to them. One of their favorite songs that the children loved to sing with Jerry was "Puff the Magic Dragon." Whatever town he would be spending the night at, Jerry would entertain the people with his guitar and singing. He never met a person that didn't like him.
Jerry is survived by one son, Jerry Davis Jr. and wife Donna of Odell, Oregon; three daughters, Laurie Long and husband Brad of Azle Texas, Loretta Green and husband Terry of Ellsbury, Missouri, and Cheryl Lambert of Callisburg, Texas; one brother, Stanley Davis of Spirit Lake, Idaho; four sisters, Barbara Fredrickson and husband Dale of Lindstrom, Minnesota, Joyce McGlothin of Lebanon, Missouri, Sharon Samuelson and husband Dewey of Pine City, Minnesota, and Marcia Carpenter of St. Paul, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and Alvin Engelbrecht and two brothers Ora and Roger Dale Davis.
A wonderful father, a fun-loving grandfather, cherished brother, good friend with a generous heart. He will be missed by all.
A memorial service was held for Gerald Leon Davis Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Shadel's Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Don Wood officiating, in Lebanon, Missouri.
