John Karlton Dahl was born at home in Menomonie, Wisconsin on November 17, 1936. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and served three years in communications. He was stationed in several foreign countries including Saudi Arabia, Greece, Spain and Hawaii. He was united in marriage to Carol Jean Profitt and two children were born to this union, Gerald and Tom. Carol died from lung cancer in 1987. John worked for the Department of Interior, National Park Service serving 13 years as maintenance supervisor in Yellowstone National Park, and 12 years in the St. Croix Riverway, St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.

He married Patricia Johnson on December 14, 1991 at Peace Lutheran Church in Dresser, Wisconsin, residing in Taylors Falls, MN in the summer and Surprise, AZ in the winter.

John was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to watch football. He was a proud Green Packer fan whether they were winning or losing. He was also a wonderful wood worker, building several homes in his lifetime.

John died at home in Arizona November 22, 2008.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Amanda Dahl, his brother Morris and his first wife Carol.

He is survived by his wife Pat; sons Gerry, (Lancy), Joshua, and Jeremy, and Tom (Liz), Katie and John; sisters Marlys, many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of John's life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church May 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin one hour before.

Interment at Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Menomonie, WI, Monday, May 11.
