Randy was born on June 26, 1953 in Stillwater, MN the son of Marvin H. and Arlene F. (Haskins) Johnson. Randy was a member of Forest Lake American Legion Post 225 and Voiture 44. He was self-employed for most of his life running his business, Johnson Roofing. In the last few years he has been working with and mentoring his son-in-law Darrick for the business. He served as a substitute bus driver for many years with Chisago Lakes Schools. He also drove for Meals on Wheels. He loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with his family. He met Kerri, in Forest Lake and it was love at first sight. They were engaged after three weeks and married seven months later. The two have been married for 28 years. Randy had a fantastic sense of humor and dearly loved his family.
Randy is survived by his loving family: wife of 28 years Kerri. daughters Chantel (Darrick) Kvale and Amber Johnson; granddaughter Kendra Kvale all of Chisago City; brother Dustin Johnson of Lindstrom; nephew Richard Johnson; father Marvin H. Johnson of Lindstrom; mother-in-law Joyce Guttsen of Forest Lake; brother-in-law Ken (Sue) Guttsen of Chaska; nephew Brad Guttsen and niece Kayla Guttsen; other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother Arlene Johnson, father-in-law Eugene Guttsen and many relatives and friends.
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City with Rev. Mike Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior until the time of the service at church. Interment will follow at South Green Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Forest Lake Lions or American Legion, or University of Minnesota ophthalmology eye research. Randy was the father to the first infant corneal transplant surgery.
