Thanks to generous donations from the Wild River chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunter's Association, Chisago Lakes Community Education has been able to purchase enough archery equipment to run archery classes at the local schools this past fall and winter. The Wild River chapter's most recent contribution included enough money to purchase five more bows, three more targets, bow holders, and arrows. Without the support of the Wild River chapter and the Lakes chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunter's Association, archery would not be present in the local schools. Over 100 students have participated in the archery program. Community Education hopes to bring a team of archers to the NASP state tournament in March. The Chisago Lakes Archery Club, the group that will be competing at this event, will meet on Thursdays starting in the middle of January, 2010.
