North Branch claims title at Skip Nalan Tournament in Grand Rapids
Mork, Suparat, Frink, Chouinard, Bergerson and Morrison all earn top three finishes at key invite
Mora dominated the Viking wrestling team, beating them 45-9 last Thursday, January 29 at Rush City. "Mora is a good team and they out-wrestled us at virtually every weight," said Viking head coach Tony Aho. "They have an experienced kid at every weight and we needed to wrestle perfectly to stay with them. Unfortunately, that didn't happen tonight, but we will get another chance at them later. Jake Kostik got a nice win over a good wrestler and John Morrison beat a pretty good heavyweight."

Grand Rapids Skip Nalan Tournament
The Vikings has a fruitful trip to Grand Rapids last Saturday, January 31, winning the ten-team Grand Rapids Skip Nalan Tournament. Boyd Suparat (135) and Justin Bergerson (215) each won individual championships. The other coaches voted Suparat the tournament's outstanding wrestler.
"This was an excellent team effort," said Viking head coach Tony Aho. "Although some of the other teams sat kids out of the tournament, our kids went out and wrestled very hard and deserved this championship. Reid Johnson is getter better each and every day and is starting to emerge as a good lead-off man for this team. Tom Mork had a nice tournament and is starting to show some spark out there. Boyd bounced back from a tough loss against Mora and dominated his weight class. Sam Peltier is an eighth grader at 140 pounds who did not place but earned two key pins which really helped the team. He is strong and coachable so we think he will be very good. Stuart Frink, Nick Salo, Chad Anderson and Erik Chouinard all came out and earned key wins for the team. Justin Bergerson took the championship at 215 and is becoming one of our better wrestlers."
