Students hear about a variety of different interests, careers during Enrichment Days


Kindergarten and first grade students at Taylors Falls and Chisago Lakes Primary schools enjoyed Enrichment Day, where several volunteers from within our community visited our kindergarten and first grade classrooms to share their knowledge and expertise with our students. Students were able to choose three presentations to attend, from among the many topics offered by the volunteers. Volunteer speakers included:

Taylors Falls Elementary:

• LeeAnn Vitalis, Executive Director of Human Resources at St. Croix Regional Medical Center: Personality types.

• Lifelink ambulance crew from St. Croix Regional Medical Center: Ambulance tours. Paramedic and Emergency Medical Technician volunteers included Leslie Moltzer, Joe Elkin, Tim Lange, Jeff Frederick, and Matt Stremer.

• Jina Saueressig and assistant Katherine, history enthusiasts: Past and present: how technology has changed the way we live.

• Amy Klein, St. Croix Festival Theatre: Read children's literature relating to the Big Read's "Call of the Wild" theme. For more information on the Big Read, please see www.festivaltheatre.org.

• Lyn Leopold, scientist: Minnesota rocks and mining.

• Beth Engstrom, E2's Emu Ranch: Emu farming.

Primary School:

• Master Steve Pruden, USA Karate: Karate.

• Fiamma diGioia, Miniature Watercolorist: Watercolor painting.

• Amy Klein, St. Croix Falls Festival Theatre: Read children's literature relating to the Big Read's "Call of the Wild" theme. For more information on the Big Read Project, please see www.festivaltheatre.org.

• Trista Dietrich, Sign Language Instructor: Sign language.

• Erik Johnson, Film and Video Technology: Film and video.

• Alissa Johnson, Brink's Market Cake Decorator: Cake decorating.

• Kristin Miner, former teacher: Hawaii.

• Jan Welsh, Minnesota DNR: Birds' eggs.

• Cindi Doolittle, Air Force reservist and mechanical engineer: Deployments to Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

• Dr. Christa Hoiland: "Anatomy 101 for First Graders."

• Jessica Keeney, Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center: Ambulance tour.
